Why I Adore This Spider
She was HUGE I was so impressed with the size of this queen of a wolf spider. I think the size of spiders like this makes it easy for us to think of them as anthropomorphic. I know this may not always be a good thing but, if people think of them as sentient, they may be less likely to senselessly kill them. She is a Survivor While she is large for a spider, she is still very small. She must hunt AND avoid being hunted. Not all will survive to be her size. She is Stunning Salticids (jumping spiders) get a lot of positive attention on social media for their cute faces and large eyes. Look at the eyes on this babe! I think she is just as cute as any jumping spider! She Invokes a Sense of Wonder I get the same feeling from large spiders that I get from fungi, old-growth forests, and the many, more commonly loved inhabitants of the forest. They just feel magical!
